2 days ago, I went to sign up for the Nike 10km Human Race. It was of an impromtu decision as I realised I need to start taking part in such competitions. I have always ran leisurely, alone or accompanied by my friends, but have never really get into the mentality of challenging myself. I have mentioned I wanted to run this, wanted to run that, but eventually ended up a NATO(no action talk only). This year, I wanted to run for Marathon, but ended up clashes with my Reservice. Duno whether its a good news or a bad news. Still, with this, I hope this will be the stepping stone for my future running competitions in longer distances.

And, the opportunity cost of signing up isn’t that small. I missed the online registration and had to queue up at Wisma to sign up. The registration started at 11am, and as a Singaporean, I understand how things worked. I woke up at around 8am and went to Wisma at around 930am to queue up. As expected, I was the 96th person to be on the queue, and I finally made the registration and the payment at about 1pm! In the process, I was quite pissed off with some ‘Student Union’ people who were in front of me. Their queue numbers were liked 100+ 200+ and they obviously cut the queue (I did not realise until we were supposed to return back the stickers). Initially, the Security stopped them. But, after some conversation going on, and from what I know, the negotiation still benefits them. They were told to register at the terminal(self online registration) as of their friends with smaller queue numbers, meaning all of them will use the same terminal. Well, come on these people, where are your integrity? Is this how you portray how NUS students behave? Moreover, please do not give reasons like “my friend forgot to take the queue number for me and so I got a bigger queue number after that” or “sorry, but we in a rush”, and well, who is not rushing for time? Anyway, ranting over, just dun like such people giving such reasons to make them sound as if people owed them a favour. And, I shall look forward for the run soon, and hopefully the human traffic wun affect much of my run.

Soon after that, I had an OG outing. The outing motive, to get everyone to study! Ehh.. just a random thought, because I realised we had too much fun, and neglected studies for some time. In the end, 2 seniors and 5 freshies turned up, not so bad, but I was totally off momentum in my studies, did nothing much during the 3-4 hours session, probably had used to slacking during holidays. Nevermind, I still have Saturday and Sunday, considering Thursday had just ended and Friday is going to be burnt. Okay, carry on… later that night we went to support Toinh at UCC, as he was performing there, a guitar concert. I can felt the class when I entered and listened to the guitar performance, but when I heard my freshies were shouting Toinh’s name on and off, the classy feel gone…haha… and I really can’t stand one of my freshies, LaiKiu because he slept in the concert!! And his dressing was like… what!!! t-shirt, shorts and slippers. Haiz… A troublesome freshie.

Back to today, or yesterday, I tried to do my tutorial for almost the whole day, but obviously not constructive enough, otherwise it wun be whole day on tutorial. Sad, and I went to play soccer at the cage, as usual on Thursday night. Well, it was a good team performance that we showed up just now. I was quite happy with our overall performance, less some unsatisfactory mentality shown by some. Anyway, I realised I had wrote a very long post. Had never done so for… some time.

Later today, I will be having Swensen Buffet at Ion, and followed by Brenda’s and Audrey’s Birthday party. Like I mentioned, Friday was burnt for so many happening stuffs. Alrite, thats all folks….

Scary!

September 21, 2009

I was in this topic with few of my friends before, a few weeks ago, and I realised that it is more serious than I think. I was mentioning that how come the Chinese are so dominant now in Singapore, and seldom I heard of any singlish being spoken on trains.

Everywhere I go, in the train, in the supermarket, walking on a street, I will hear someone speaking loudly in chinese slang, the accent that I know its not from a Singaporean. Sometimes, I was wondering, am I in Singapore, or am I in China? My friend told me, our PM, Mr Lee said that there are currently 1 million mainland chinese in Singapore. Alarmingly, consider our population in Singapore, about 4-5 million, its like 1 in 4 or 5 people that we see, its these people.

Seriously, at first I thought its only the working adults, the talents that our ministers claimed, to help boost our economy, that came to Singapore. But in fact, if you look around, all sorts of labour, in any kind of environment, any age, from kids of 10 to grannies of 80, you will see them, recognised by the uniqueness of their tone. Its so scary… Domination, something that I am worried of, in another 10 to 20 years time, the ratio of PRCs to Singaporeans might escalate from 0.2 to more than 0.5. By that time, we might become one of them. Scary!

Hope things do not get worse. Retain Singapore culture!

Speedy once more

September 19, 2009

Yesterday, I went for another movie outing with my SOW og, Speedy!!!! We watched the movie, “The ugly truth”, and seriously, if you are not an open-minded person, this is definitely not a good show to you. Otherwise, you will keep laughing your heart out.

This movie was quite lame, in one way or another, and also full of dirty jokes. But, it did tell us the ugly truth. The ugly truth about people who are superficial in looks( But certainly I believe its for 1st impression and hopefully I am right).

The details of the show I shall not described… And I just feel that I have difficulty in expressing my thoughts again.

Another Speedy outing is coming up soon.

This week paparazzi is…

4 months, not a very long time, neither a short one as well. But soon the time will come.

New phone

September 10, 2009

I got myself a new phone, Samsung Omnia II. Though I did not spend a penny, I am not very happy, the reason being simple — I like it simple. This phone has too many applications, and it takes some time for me in exploring. Now still in progress.

Samsung Omnia II

Initially, wanted this phone because it can view pdf file, and I had never take into consideration that the file viewing will be rather small for me to read. And, my main purpose initially was to read my FYP materials once I have this phone. But, I think I have to rethink. Anyway, I should be happy… Hopefully, this phone is not that difficult to use.

Exploring exploring…

Food for thought

September 8, 2009

I have read the post on the longest words in English dictionary. And, across it, I found this post that is rather interesting.

The longest words that are reverse images of each other are stressed and desserts.

With this, I had a random thought in mind. When you are stressed, how about going for some desserts?

Cravings!!!!

EQ is getting lower each day

September 8, 2009

How I wished I can stay out of home, doing things on my own, in a peaceful carefree way.

Why must the 2 of them keep annoying each other and I have to be sandwiched in between? Seriously, I am sick in handling this household issue. The young,  a very self-centred personality, who mood swing easily, while the elder, kept whining and whining, up till the level when the young picks up the quarrel.

Everytime, I have to be either the mediator or ended up being another party involved in the quarrel. I had enough of it. Feels like using vulgarities.

Hate this feeling

Awesome!!!
