September 25, 2009

2 days ago, I went to sign up for the Nike 10km Human Race. It was of an impromtu decision as I realised I need to start taking part in such competitions. I have always ran leisurely, alone or accompanied by my friends, but have never really get into the mentality of challenging myself. I have mentioned I wanted to run this, wanted to run that, but eventually ended up a NATO(no action talk only). This year, I wanted to run for Marathon, but ended up clashes with my Reservice. Duno whether its a good news or a bad news. Still, with this, I hope this will be the stepping stone for my future running competitions in longer distances.

And, the opportunity cost of signing up isn’t that small. I missed the online registration and had to queue up at Wisma to sign up. The registration started at 11am, and as a Singaporean, I understand how things worked. I woke up at around 8am and went to Wisma at around 930am to queue up. As expected, I was the 96th person to be on the queue, and I finally made the registration and the payment at about 1pm! In the process, I was quite pissed off with some ‘Student Union’ people who were in front of me. Their queue numbers were liked 100+ 200+ and they obviously cut the queue (I did not realise until we were supposed to return back the stickers). Initially, the Security stopped them. But, after some conversation going on, and from what I know, the negotiation still benefits them. They were told to register at the terminal(self online registration) as of their friends with smaller queue numbers, meaning all of them will use the same terminal. Well, come on these people, where are your integrity? Is this how you portray how NUS students behave? Moreover, please do not give reasons like “my friend forgot to take the queue number for me and so I got a bigger queue number after that” or “sorry, but we in a rush”, and well, who is not rushing for time? Anyway, ranting over, just dun like such people giving such reasons to make them sound as if people owed them a favour. And, I shall look forward for the run soon, and hopefully the human traffic wun affect much of my run.

Soon after that, I had an OG outing. The outing motive, to get everyone to study! Ehh.. just a random thought, because I realised we had too much fun, and neglected studies for some time. In the end, 2 seniors and 5 freshies turned up, not so bad, but I was totally off momentum in my studies, did nothing much during the 3-4 hours session, probably had used to slacking during holidays. Nevermind, I still have Saturday and Sunday, considering Thursday had just ended and Friday is going to be burnt. Okay, carry on… later that night we went to support Toinh at UCC, as he was performing there, a guitar concert. I can felt the class when I entered and listened to the guitar performance, but when I heard my freshies were shouting Toinh’s name on and off, the classy feel gone…haha… and I really can’t stand one of my freshies, LaiKiu because he slept in the concert!! And his dressing was like… what!!! t-shirt, shorts and slippers. Haiz… A troublesome freshie.

Back to today, or yesterday, I tried to do my tutorial for almost the whole day, but obviously not constructive enough, otherwise it wun be whole day on tutorial. Sad, and I went to play soccer at the cage, as usual on Thursday night. Well, it was a good team performance that we showed up just now. I was quite happy with our overall performance, less some unsatisfactory mentality shown by some. Anyway, I realised I had wrote a very long post. Had never done so for… some time.

Later today, I will be having Swensen Buffet at Ion, and followed by Brenda’s and Audrey’s Birthday party. Like I mentioned, Friday was burnt for so many happening stuffs. Alrite, thats all folks….

This week paparazzi is…

4 months

4 months, not a very long time, neither a short one as well. But soon the time will come.

Packed

August 15, 2009

Sometimes, its good that events just carried on one after another, rather than pausing some way in the middle, asking myself, “So, what is next?”

Had a packed couple of days, starting with Ziping’s PRE 21st Birthday. Held at Chevron, and the place was so packed with her family members and friends. And the place was so unfriendly that I had to do limbo rock whenever I walked. Oops, abit exaggerating. Never mind that, we went to sing K after that, and what I can said was that it would probably my 1st and the last time visiting there. Trace back abit, argh… My singing was too poor to be mentioned. 该转音,我破音. Haiz… Sad. We went mahjong after that, and both Glenn and I were bold enough to dare each other, and we 包each other 五台, and my tiles were 小四喜!Wahaha!!! In the end, just play for fun, no money involved. Friendly game!

We only managed to catch 2-3 hours of sleep after the mahjong session and head back to NUS for badminton! Yes, badminton, and we played for roughly about 2 hours. I have not played badminton for few years prior to today session, and I felt I was clumsy and as though a newbie. Reflexes were slow and kept missing the shuttercock. I can only said 我老了…

Thereafter, I went back to Science to catch some sleep before I ran with the Maths Soc people. Though lethargic before that, but once started to jog, everything was back to normal. Felt like running more, but had to go for a random date with the Speedy seniors for the movie session UP. It was really a random date, plainly because we were ‘upset’ that our freshies have totally forgotten about their seniors, and they organised outings without us. So disappointed… and as seniors, we must really show them that we do not need freshies as well, we can have our own fun time as well. Oh well, just wanted to be AA only.

Anyway, UP was a good animated movie, an unusual one I would say. I thought it has shaken off some of the commonly seen plots in animation, and the graphics were pretty much very real. Well done, Pixar. Hope to see more nice of it.

Slacking is coming up next.

Fast Updates

July 21, 2009

Busy busy busy…. That is all I can describe for the past few weeks after SCAMP. And sorry folks, for not updating my blog, and it has to take a little more time for me to post the pictures on SCAMP. 就 busy ah, cannot help it.

Impromtu-ing, and I decided to talk about some of the events that I had been through over the past few weeks.

Lets start off with OCC. Well, I forgot how many OCCs I have attended, probably my 8th? Really forgot already. But anyway, the feeling remained the same after OCC. Backache, joint pain, etc… came to haunt me. Do I sound like I am too old? Probably. And also, the feeling of getting a free workout and helping the old folks to raise funds is indeed a fulfilling one. =D

Next, lets talk about being a relief teacher in riverside secondary school. To be frank, I do not like their culture, probably due to the atmosphere over there. Teachers do not smile, I said hello, no reply, and I smiled, I was given a expressionless look. Argh… Demoralized. However, there was still fun, and I really enjoyed myself. I got to know many people, and I had gained alot of experience as well. A sweet 4 weeks as a relief teacher will come to an end this coming friday, and I will update more about this, and some character analysis. Excited!!

Finally, with a moment of adrenline rush, I went to play tennis with my friends, and it was my 2nd time playing, and it was since I was 13. Really had fun playing tennis, and I seemed to addict to it. Everytime I hit the ball, I dreamt I was playing in front of a packed indoor court. Dream dream dream…. I want to play tennis soon.

Alright, time is chasing after me. Gotta do some constructive work.

Enjoy being busy, but now abit too stressed. Feels like taking a short break now.  I can only blog now while uploading lots of photos on facebook.

SCAMP has ended.
Relief teaching starting on Monday, and don’t know when it ends.
Rag & Flag Camp held next week.. Stressed again.
SOW prep camp next week.
Friends’ commencement next week.

Oh well, so many things jammed up right at this moment. Please let me have some compensation sleep before I start my next activity. Struggling now…

Will blog on the SCAMP 09 that ended about 30 hours ago. Soon soon…

Today, I went to my friend’s birthday, and everything was ok. We had a dinner at Astons, and then went to play lan games. When the birthday boy was leaving for clarke quay to drink and smoke ‘healthy’ cigars (forgot about the name of it), our 2 other friends then replied, “We wana go too!” The birthday boy rejected the idea because his friends were not sociable, hence might cause awkwardness. The 2 of them started to feel disappointed, and one of them commented,”Wah.. Your life so happening and so havoc now.”

The conversation followed and they concluded that friends that they met are very important. True true, but what came up next really agitated me. “Too bad we have friends like him (referring to me) who always don’t club, don’t hang out late. Wrong type of friends perhaps!”

I was thinking… What the hell lar. 11 years of friendship, even if its a matter of a joke, you should not put that across this way. And again, from the same mouth, who recently claimed on my birthday celebration that he forgo the concert performed by Jolin and Stephanie just to celebrate for my birthday. And he kept giving me a depressed mood and making me feeling guilty. I would rather he went for the concert that day, instead of whining in front of me. And, I hope he understand, the decision is always his, so stop making remarks as if I was the liability.

Giving me another hell when travelling back home. Kept quiet for the whole journey and seemed to blame me for making the choice of going back home. Seriously, if you really want to go and chill out with him, please go ahead. I do not crave for alcohol, I do not smoke and I have 3 tuitions the following day. Please excuse me. I hate to say this but I am really growing tired out of this. You are really an astrological hell for me.

Thanks again, for commenting my life is boring. Maybe, indeed, so please pursue your own definition of exciting life, and stop grumbling. Thanks.

Its V day

May 30, 2009

Birthdays! are hard to plan, hard to organise. Great job for those who actually planned before!

Yesterday, about 20 people went down to celebrate Veron’s Birthday, planned by Fiona! I was involved in the minor details, and we have Brenda and Peiying as well, don’t know what are their posts and scopes. Nevermind, not important. =p. Anyway, we went to Just Noodles in Suntec Basement, because most of us were broke due to recession! Still jobless as you can see. Anyway, the meals were cheap cheap with free flow drinks and ice-cream, and at the end of day, each spent less than $8. Wah!!! And Veron, Beeyan and Miss Chin-Huei were the crazy ones, ate so many scoops of ice-cream. Tsk-tsk… *Actually, I was the one serving them*

Oh well, I shall stop mentioning on this minor minor details, just as I am playing just a minor role. Here are some of the pictures.

FOW 1

FOW 2

FOW 3

The day was filled with surprises, some unwanted ones. As I mentioned, I was so dumb to have actually spilled the beans, but nevertheless we made it an extraordinary day for Veron. We bought her a very nice bag and watch, and also Fiona spent in a matter of 2 days to complete the series of photoalbum and scrapbook. But first, I apologised for suggesting to shift the responsibility to Fiona. Sorry, but hope you enjoy doing it! =p

Alan took alot of pictures, and that day the Fountain of Wealth seemed to turn into another musical fountain. Many many nice photos were taken. I just merely uploaded this few. Nice nice.. For more information, please log on to http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=124031&id=603830559&ref=nf.

Who’s birthday next?

I think this is the 2nd time it happened, and I was quite upset and stunned by what I had done. This is what I said in front of the birthday girl.

“I only know who is sharing the present, I don’t know who is coming.”

I paused for a moment, only to realise I said something wrong. ‘Present’, I hate to say things wrongly, and I tried to make some amendments to it, by trying to divert or continue the story, but only to fail more terribly in the end. Ah… I think I should not involve in another surprise planning.

Still, the day went out fine afterwards, and all of us really enjoyed ourselves. Did we? Oh well, as least I think most people not complaining, its fine. And to apologise again, its not a tradition or complusory thing for the previous birthday boy or girl to plan for the next birthday! No such thing. I was just suggesting only. All come by volunteerism. All right, happy pre-birthday Veron!

And, I should just be a participant, nothing more, from now onwards, till further notice. =p

Impromtu 2

May 21, 2009

Today, I went to NTUC supermarket to buy apples, after realizing my house don’t have any more fruits left, and I felt I was a bit lacking of vitamin C. Anyway, digress a bit. A tip for all the people queuing up for the atm at Yishun MRT, which is always that pack. There is actually DBS atm at basement of NTUC, whereby there is always no one utilizing it. It would probably take you a shorter waiting time by taking a walk down and come up.

And I was doing a second round of my summer cleaning of my house, after my trip back from the NTUC. Vacuuming and mopping the house really made my house looks cleaner. And I can say I really like the refreshing feeling of the whole house.

Doing nothing now, and I actually found a website that can kill your boredness at home. Check this out: http://tvokay.com
The movies are quite clear. But a pity they do not have subtitles. If you don’t mind that, you can enjoy yourself for the whole day. But nah nah.. I am not promoting piracy, just that if you are down to last resort without any entertainment, maybe you can try this. =p

Going to kick some soccer later on. Hopefully I won’t skid and fall too much on the slippery pitch.
Shall end off here.
